Pearl Aday, adopted daughter of Grammy Award winning singer and songwriter Meat Loaf (born Marvin Lee Aday) and his ex-wife Leslie, her birth mother, seems to have followed in her father’s footsteps by forming her own band, Pearl.

After studying writing at Emerson College in Boston, Pearl turned to a career in music. Beginning by singing backup for her father’s touring band, Neverland Express, for nine years, she also toured as a backup singer for Motley Crue.

When not on the road, Pearl appeared on numerous albums and in videos with her father even singing a duet with him in 2003 on his Couldn’t have Said It Better Album on the song, “Man of Steel.Additional information can be found at http://deadspin.com/5821391/meat-loaf-was-my-softball-coach.” One of the highlights of her career with her father (and, probably a stand-out moment for Meat Loaf as well) was singing at former President Bill Clinton’s Inaugural Ball in 1997. She has made appearances with her father on television, most memorably on FOX’s “Don’t Forget the Lyrics,” in which she, her dad, and his duet partner Patti Russo won 500,000 for charity.

In 2008, Pearl opened for the band Velvet Revolver on a United Kingdom tour date. In 2010, she opened up for her father’s tour dates in the United Kingdom headlining her band, Pearl. She and her band have made musical appearances on television shows, most notably, Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Before joining her father on his tour dates in 2010, she headlined her own 13-city U.S. tour. In January, 2010, Pearl released her debut album on Megaforce/Sony/RED records. Joining Pearl in her band are Scott Ian, her husband and guitarist for the band Anthrax. The band also includes former members of The Rollins Band, Henry Rollins and Mother Superior.

Recently, Pearl and her husband, Scott, took some time off from touring and recording to start a family. In June, 2011, made a grandfather of Meat Loaf with the birth of son, Revel Young Ian.
