Pearl Aday, Meatloaf’s adopted daughter is making her way in the music world. Pearl, who was adopted by Meatloaf when he married his now estranged wife Leslie, has spent her life around musicians. Her natural father played the drums for Full tilt Boogie, the band for Janis Joplin. She was named after Joplin, whose nickname was Pearl.
As a baby her mother used to bring her with her to the studio where Meatloaf was recording, and she would take a nap in the guitar case complete with pillow and blanket. As a little girl she got to participate in Meatloaf’s shows. Meatloaf always wore a scarf and would change after every song. She wore a gold jumpsuit and would run onstage to give him a new one.
She got her start singing in front of audiences when she toured Europe as a member of a select chorus when she was in high school. After that she performed in some school musicals.
After a brief stint at Boston College where she majored in creative writing, she began performing for her step father in 1994. She performed for him for almost 10 years and worked on five of his tours. She also joined her father when he performed at one of President Clintons inaugural balls. She sang back up for him and even released a few duets with him. In addition to singing backup for Meatloaf, she has also provided backup for Motley Crue.
Now she has her very own band, Pearl and released her first album, Broken White in January 2010.
Her band has toured with Meatloaf at times.
Pearl is married to Kevin Ian, a guitarist for the band Anthrax. She met him in 2000 while working with Motley Crue. She is currently expecting her first child any time now.
